A Monday MRI confirmed the worst fears for Texas volleyball and outside hitter Abby Vander Wal.
Vander Wal, a 6-foot-3 starting outside hitter, tore the ACL in her left knee during Saturday's win over TCU and will likely miss the remainder of the season. She will see an orthopedic surgeon Tuesday for further evaluation and "to determine the next course of action," according to a team official.
During the opening set of Texas volleyball's first match Saturday in the Players Era Showcase against TCU, Vander Wal exited the game when her knee buckled after landing on an attack. The sophomore stayed down until the whistle blew by officials and clutched her left knee before hopping off with the help of training staff.
