The Indiana Fever cruised to an 111-91 win over the Connecticut Sun on Friday night. Both of Indiana's All-Star guards, Kelsey Mitchell and Caitlin Clark, turned in MVP-caliber performances.
Mitchell scored 34 points, and Clark did as well, although she also registered a double-double with 12 ***** ists in the victory. However, as great as both Clark and Mitchell have been for Indiana all season long, one lingering criticism of their games throughout the season has been their defense.
Clark had one of her better showings of the season on Friday, recording three steals. Still, Fever coach Briann January, who was a five-time All-Defensive First Team selection during her playing days in the WNBA, was left unsatisfied with Clark at one point in the game and wasn't afraid to let the superstar hear about it on the sideline in a moment caught by cameras.
Many fans on social media took exception to what they perceived as January publicly demeaning Indiana's star player.
"White is the worst coach ever she is so blind to what happens on her (own) team she's the so called leader she needs held accountable," one person posted on X.
