Michael Wright, best known for playing Eddie King Jr. in The Five Heartbeats, has died at 70.
Wright died Wednesday, August 19, in Los Angeles, according to a statement from his family. His family told TMZ that he died after suffering heart failure along with complications from Marchiafava-Bignami disease, a rare degenerative neurological condition.
His wife, Susan Wright, announced his death Friday in an emotional social media tribute.
"It is with profound sadness and an unimaginable heaviness in my heart that I share the passing of my beloved husband, Michael Wright," she wrote.
Susan remembered Wright not only as an actor but as a husband, father, grandfather, friend and "extraordinary artist" whose work touched generations. She also asked for privacy as the family grieves and said additional information about his life and plans to honor him would be shared when they are ready.
