On Thursday, Fox News posted a preview of Enes Kanter Freedom's interview on "My View With Lara Trump," where he commented on Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham. In this snippet, Freedom praised Cunningham for voicing her opinion that biological men should not compete in women's sports.
"First of all, I want to say she's an American hero. Everywhere she goes, I see now a lot of people are coming out and actually defending her."
Freedom referenced fan rallies held in cities like Seattle and Minneapolis. With the Fever coming to town for scheduled WNBA games, Cunningham's supporters staged gatherings to express their support for her stance on transgender athletes in women's sports.
Though Freedom acknowledged that Cunningham has drawn criticism, he hailed her as a role model for young women.
"Obviously, if you're standing up for something that you believe, you're going to get hate all the time. But I think she's inspiring not only the players in the WNBA, but girls from all over the world."
