The three-time All-Star played for the Boston Red Sox from 2017 to 2025 before he was traded to San Francisco.
Devers was seen smiling as he walked toward the plate for his first at-bat of the game. He was met with a mixed reaction from the crowd. Some boos were heard for Devers on the broadcast, but some fans were also seen standing up and clapping for the 2018 World Series champion.
In his third plate appearance, Devers hit a home run to center field to pull the Giants within one run of the Red Sox, 5-4, in the top of the fourth inning. It was his 26th home run of the season.
