No matter what happened Sunday, Alexander Zannes knew he could live with the outcome.
"(It was) just like, 'Hey, if I win, I win,'" he said. "Life is going to go on, and I'm happy to be out here and able to play in this kind of stuff still."
He got a result to be plenty happy with, too.
Zannes won the 85th Annual Greater Albuquerque Men's City Golf Championship by two strokes, carding a 1-under 71 in the final round to finish 11 under on the week.
The 38-year-old commercial real estate broker and Valley High School graduate climbed into contention on the strength of a blistering second-round 8-under 64 on Saturday at Ladera Golf Course, where he used to work as a cart boy in his youth. He finished the job Sunday at Los Altos with a front nine that saw him make five birdies and four bogeys before "holding it together" through a nerve-riddled back nine.
