Staunton enters the season with some unproven players on its roster. A lot of experience graduated a season ago and Coach Michael Bell and his staff must find a way to replace those players.
"It's a young team," Bell said. "They're eager. It's an athletic team. I've just got to find a way to put the pieces together."
Staunton graduated 17 seniors out of a 38-player roster from a team that finished 4-6 and missed the playoffs a year ago. That's nearly 45% of the team gone.
Bell chooses to look at that as a glass half full.
"When you lose that many it gives other kids an opportunity," said Bell, who enters his fifth season as head coach. "They're like, 'Hey, I might get a chance to show'...when it's open and they see that opportunity it brings competition."
