Behind Mickey Brown's two-hit shutout, Camels Hump blanked Portsmouth, New Hampshire, 1-0, in the opening round of double-elimination tournament at the A. Bartlett Giamatti Little League Leadership Training Center in Bristol, Connecticut.
In his 73-pitch gem, Brown fanned seven batters and walked just one batter. He closed out the game with a swinging strikeout.
Camels Hump, which captured its first state **** le last weekend, advances to the winner's bracket semifinals on Monday, Aug. 10. A win would put Camels Hump into the New England final on Thursday, Aug. 13. A loss on Aug. 10 would mean Camels Hump would play in an elimination game on Wednesday, Aug. 12.
