Steve Belichick is taking a medical leave of absence and will be away from the University of North Carolina's sidelines indefinitely, his father Bill Belichick announced on Wednesday.
Belichick, 74, did not offer further details about his son's sudden absence from the team or say whether the 39-year-old defensive coordinator would be ready in three weeks, when the Tar Heels take on TCU in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, Aug. 29.
