The expectations for Duke basketball have remained the same since Mike Krzyzewski turned the Blue Devils into a powerhouse: national championship or bust.
That will be the case again for the 2026-27 season as Jon Scheyer enters his fifth year in charge and looks for his first national ****** le as a head coach. The Blue Devils fell short two years ago with a loss to Houston in the Final Four and again this past March after a heartbreaking loss to UConn in the Elite Eight.
With a loaded roster that includes Caleb Foster, Cayden Boozer, Dame Sarr and Patrick Ngongba, who all return from last year's team, along with transfers John Blackwell and Drew Scharnowski and incoming 5-star freshman Cam Williams plus others, the Blue Devils are already among the favorites to bring home the trophy next March, according to Vegas.
Scheyer's squad and Florida, who won the national ****** le two years ago, are co-favorites to run through March Madness next season with +600 odds.
Fans of both teams won't have to wait to see if the Blue Devils and Gators meet up in the Final Four in Detroit next season as they meet in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Dec. 1, a rematch of last season's game in Cameron Indoor Stadium in which Duke pulled out a thrilling 67-66 win over Florida.
