The Washington Commanders brought in a lot of new faces in 2026, some through the draft and others through free agency, but this is a different roster than it was in 2025.
One of the new faces belongs to tight end Chig Okonkwo, who spent his first four seasons with the Tennessee **** ans. The **** ans' coaching turnover and quarterback instability hampered Okonkwo's ability to show the league what he is truly capable of, which is one of the reasons Okonkwo wanted to come to Washington.
After their first practice in pads on Monday, Okonkwo was made available to the media for questions. Around the 2:50 mark, he is asked about the camaraderie on the roster and in the tight end room.
"In the tight end room, we're all super close," Chig says. "I feel like tight end is a very selfless position, so we're all rooting for each other all the time. We all want each other to do well, and we all know that we help each other. In different blocks, in different combos.
"And it's the same thing with the team. We're all a connected team; we're all a connected unit. We all know that we help each other by doing our job correctly."
