What did Mets get in Luke Weaver trade? Full details on major deal with Pirates originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Mets are selling this summer and have already dealt Brooks Raley, Freddy Peralta, A.J. Minter, and Huascar Brazoban. But more players are departing ahead of the deadline.
According to Jorge Castillo of ESPN, the Mets are trading Luke Weaver to the Pittsburgh Pirates. It's a significant move, as the Mets are parting with a valuable reliever who is under club control through the 2027 season.
But it's important to note what the Mets are getting back for Weaver. According to Joel Sherman of The New York Post, the Mets are receiving just one prospect in exchange for Weaver: shortstop Sammy Stafura.
"For Luke Weaver, the Mets are getting back IF Sammy Stafura from the Pirates," Sherman reported.
