Jeremie Frimpong sparked more defensive injury fears for Liverpool after he was substituted late into their dismal 4-2 pre-season collapse against Leeds in Chicago.
The right-back asked to be replaced 13 minutes from time of their defeat at Soldier Field, which saw Andoni Iraola suffer his first defeat as Reds manager.
It comes after Joe Gomez suffered a muscle injury in the first match of their USA tour, a 4-2 win over Sunderland, which has ruled him out for the start of the Premier League season.
Iraola therefore cannot afford any more fitness problems in defence and is hopeful that his withdrawal was just a precaution, citing Frimpong's issue as nothing more than "overload".
