After years of reported estrangement from his family dating back to late 2014, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers surprised fans in July by posting photos with them on social media.
On August 1, the athlete talked about the reunion in a conversation with NFL Network's Kyle Brandt. The host said he was "genuinely moved" when he saw Rodgers' post and the effect it had on him.
Rodgers said he's been having conversations about it for years, adding that his mystery wife, Brittani, played a role in the family reconciliation. "A big part of it was getting married, and having those conversations with my wife that allowed me to kind of open up to the possibility of coming together," he answered.
He added that he prefers to keep his personal life private, but he wanted to "shut down" a narrative that has gone on too long. Rodgers said the love and support Brittani has given him urged him to reconnect with family members whom he admittedly missed.
