A former Carolina Panthers quarterback could be on the doorstep of an NFL return.
According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston, Jack Plummer is set to work out for the San Francisco 49ers and the Miami Dolphins. Per Wilson, the 26-year-old passer will visit the 49ers on Friday and the Dolphins next week.
Plummer, a standout from the University of Louisville, began as pro career as an undrafted free agent with the Panthers back in 2024. He'd spend that year and the summer of 2025 in Carolina, making a total of six appearances during preseason play as the third-string quarterback.
After being waived by Carolina ahead of last season, Plummer eventually found his way to the United Football League. This past spring, he completed 65 percent of his passes for 2,188 yards, 17 touchdowns and just one interception—leading the Orlando Storm to a league-best 8-2 record and capturing the UFL's 2026 Most Valuable Player honors.
