Mike Boynton Jr. has made his first move as Michigan basketball coach.
The Wolverines are hiring longtime Brown head coach Mike Martin to fill an ******* istant coaching role, a person with knowledge of the situation but not permitted to speak publicly on the matter told the Free Press on Monday, July 13.
The 44-year-old Martin was Brown coach for 14 seasons (including 2020-21, skipped by Ivy League teams), hired by the Bears a few weeks before he turned 30. He was named Ivy League Coach of the Year in 2019 and is the first of possibly multiple staffers who could join Boynton and company after a summer of coaching turnover.

Boynton was officially hired as U-M coach on Friday, less than three weeks after ex-coach Dusty May left for the NBA's Dallas Mavericks.
