In a recent report, journalist Harry Watkinson claimed that Sunderland are among the clubs hoping to land Villarreal midfielder Pape Gueye. It has been mentioned that the Black Cats would have to rival Everton, Crystal Palace and Brighton and Hove Albion in the race to land the Senegalese talent in this transfer window.
Gueye was an important member of Villarreal’s squad in the previous campaign when he produced a series of impressive displays for them in the middle of the park. The 27-year-old scored five goals and earned a couple of ***** ists in 39 matches for the Spanish outfit last season across all competitions.
The Senegalese sensation is currently among the most talented midfielders in La Liga. Hence, Sunderland would have to make a convincing offer if they are serious about recruiting him later this year.
His current contract at the Spanish club will run out in the summer of 2028, which could make it tough for the Black Cats to sign him on a cut-price deal this off-season.
