Lauren Silverman says she keeps smartphones out of the bedroom when her son Eric Cowell has friends over for sleepovers.
Silverman, who shares 12-year-old Eric with Simon Cowell, explained the rule in a social media post about children, phones and overnight visits. Page Six reported that Silverman said the rule has "made a real difference" in their home.
Silverman said devices are kept out of the bedroom when Eric's friends stay over, but phones remain accessible if needed for emergencies.
The Sun reported that Silverman joked the rule could make her the "least popular mum" in Eric's friendship group.
Silverman wrote that children are more likely to talk, laugh, sleep and connect when phones are not part of the room, according to Page Six.
