Ahead of Wednesday's ceremony, the longtime friends caught up with Yahoo to discuss the pop culture moments they wanted to spotlight, the fandoms already stirring up controversy and why the annual event has evolved into a place where, as Yang puts it, "total irony and total earnestness" can live side by side.
