Coming off a career year and an All-Pro season where he established himself as arguably the best interior defensive lineman in football, Tennessee **** ans defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons says he isn't concerned with potential contract extension talks.
"Since I’ve got to Tennessee this organization has been nothing but good to me," Simmons told reporters on June 17 after the end of mandatory minicamp. "We’ve been on the same page since I got here. So when it comes down to the contract, I let everything play out. Like I said, since I got here me and the front office, me and (controlling owner Amy Adams Strunk, me and (Titans salary cap expert Vin Marino), everyone’s been on the same page. Whenever it’s time to talk contract and whenever it’s time to get that out of the way, I know my agent Todd (France) and Vin and them are going to work together to make sure it’s done the right way."
Simmons signed a four-year, $94 million contract extension with the **** ans prior to the 2023 season that extends through 2027. Since signing that contract, the top of the market for defensive tackles has shifted. Nine interior defensive linemen make more money annually than Simmons, four of whom have never made an All-Pro team.
In 2025, Simmons led all NFL interior defensive linemen with 11 sacks. He remains under contract for 2027 and still ranks as one of the **** ans' highest-paid players, but compared to his peers it's still fair to argue Simmons is underpaid.
That's not how Simmons seems to be talking about it, though.
