INDIANAPOLIS -- One of the first additions to Bryce Taylor's **** lesville Boom staff was a coach who stayed familiar after leaving the Pacers because he never left town.
Connor McCaffery -- the former Iowa wing, Pacers player development coach and Butler **** istant who is perhaps most famously known as Fever superstar Caitlin Clark's significant other -- has rejoined the Pacers staff as a Boom **** istant coach. That was initially reported by Scott Agness of the Fieldhouse Files.
McCaffery spent two years on Thad Matta's staff at Butler after spending 2023-24 on the Pacers staff. Though he obviously has personal reasons to want to stay in Indianapolis, he has long-term hopes of joining the family business as a coach. His father, Fran, is coming off an Ivy League **** le and NCAA Tournament berth at Pennsylvania after 15 seasons as head coach at Iowa.
"You can't overlook the impressive basketball bloodline he comes from," Boom general manager Chris Taylor said. "I think from getting to know him I've been so impressed with his legitimate commitment to being a coach and a high-level coach. He has lofty aspirations and he's still young. A lot of times coaches his age, you're like, 'Hey what's your goal here?' And they might be just like, 'I just want to coach.' But he has very strict and kind of guided goals, which is great. His willingness to do anything. He had the player development role, the opportunity over at Butler, now coming back in a G League role, he's just open to any way he can learn and grow."
