Cleveland Brown's $230 million signal-caller named worst contract in NFL originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
When the Cleveland Browns signed Deshaun Watson to a five-year, $230 million contract back in 2022, they had high hopes for the QB who had made three Pro Bowls during his time with the Houston Texans.
Unfortunately, Watson's time in Cleveland has been a complete disaster due to injuries and other issues. Watson has appeared in just 19 total games over the past four seasons with the Browns and he's also thrown just 19 total touchdowns.
As a result, Watson's contract with Cleveland was recently ranked as the worst in the entire NFL by Bleacher Report's Brad Gagnon.
"Four years into that infamous deal, Watson has thrown a grand total of 19 touchdown passes in 19 starts. He hasn't been an effective NFL player since 2020, and that's extremely unlikely to suddenly change in his age-31 season," Gagnon wrote.
