The Boston Red Sox's struggles continued on Sunday afternoon as the club dropped its series finale against the New York Yankees, 6-1.
Now, the Red Sox are 27-36 on the season and in last place in the American League East. Things unfortunately, haven't taken a turn for the better yet and that could mean negative things for the franchise as we inch closer and closer to the 2026 Major League Baseball trade deadline in August.
If the Red Sox keep stacking up losses, the club is going to have to take a long look at the roster and see if there are guys on the club to trade away. For example, USA Today's Bob Nightengale wrote on Sunday that Boston is "expected" to cut ties with All-Star closer Aroldis Chapman if things keep how they have so far this season.

"Boston Red Sox closer Aroldis Chapman is expected to join his eighth different team, and potentially be in the postseason with his sixth different team," Nightengale wrote. "He is the top reliever available on every contender’s target list, converting 28 consecutive saves dating back to last season, one shy of his career record."
