Idris Elba has officially joined Britain’s most distinguished ranks after being knighted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, becoming Sir Idris Elba in a ceremony that recognised a body of work extending well beyond film and television.
The honour, awarded as part of the 2026 New Year Honours list, acknowledged his contributions to youth empowerment and community support, particularly through initiatives tackling inequality and youth violence.
For the occasion, Idris wore a look from his own label, Eve of Winston, proving that formal dress codes do not have to come at the expense of personality. At first glance, the outfit respected the traditions of royal ceremonial dressing through the classic black tailcoat, white shirt and bow tie.
