"I was told — both directly and indirectly — that trauma may have fragmented my memory, and that I could safely affirm details I did not fully recall. I was ****** ured this was common and even expected," R.R. said in an affidavit filed by Sandusky's attorneys.

A Republican governor in a state that voted to elect President Donald Trump is facing intense backlash online after an interview arguing against the president's order to end Temporary Protected Status (TPS) migrants from the United States.
Republican Gov. Mike DeWine's state is home to an estimated 30,000 Haitian TPS holders. He told CBS earlier this week that the Haitians shouldn't be sent back to their country of origin.
"Haiti is ****** today. So you'd be sending people… back to ****** ," he said. "Very few of these Haitians will voluntarily go back to Haiti. If they have to leave, they'll go someplace else. They want to work. They want to support their family. They don't want to go back to Haiti."
Blue State Leaders Erupt After Supreme Court's Decision Ending Tps Protections For Haitians, Syrians
Online detractors quickly seized on DeWine's comments, mostly from users claiming that those responsible for Haiti's conditions are the ones that the governor wants to allow to stay in the United States.

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — A mass shooting in South Africa this week was the latest in a trend of killings in some of the country's poorest areas that experts say is a symptom of organized crime gangs taking advantage of the failures and sometimes absence of police.
The shooting carried out by multiple suspects in an informal settlement of shacks in Johannesburg left 12 people dead and at least 15 wounded, according to authorities.
There have not been any arrests.
South Africa's president deployed the army to the streets in several hotspots earlier this year in an attempt to combat organized crime — an unusual move seen by critics as an admission that police in Africa's most developed country were losing the battle in those areas.
Alongside that, South Africa's police force has been embroiled in allegations of corruption and collusion with criminal syndicates. That has resulted in more than a dozen senior officers being arrested and top officials, including the police minister and the national police commissioner, being suspended.

KYIV, June 3 (Reuters) - NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on Wednesday warned young Russians that they ‌would probably die if they sign up to ‌join Russia's war in Ukraine.
"You are being sold a raw deal," Rutte said during a press conference in Kyiv, in remarks he directly addressed to "young Russians and their families".
"Men like you who join the fight - you won't be ‌trained. Equipment they'll provide you with is substandard. There is a very high chance you'll die or be wounded while you're out there," he said.
"And odds are, that if you are wounded, you will be left to suffer in the mud and die."
Rutte said Russia was ‌incurring "absolutely staggering" losses in Ukraine, where he said more than 30,000 Russian soldiers died every month - matching figures he has cited before.
