Meghan Markle is sticking it out in the U.K. with Prince Harry but with an increasingly heavy heart, per a source, who says she's counting the days down till her next visit back to Montecito and struggling more than ever with her new reality.
"Meghan is doing her best to keep her chin up and put on a happy face for Harry because he's been begging her to cheer up and have some patience," says Star's source. "But all the pub lunches in the world aren't going to change the fact that she is desperately homesick already."
The **** ss of Sussex, 45, was born and raised in California and it's where she and Harry, 42, settled down after stepping down as senior working members of the royal family in 2020.
"She misses their property in Montecito, she misses going to the beach, she misses her friends," reveals the source. "She's so grateful that her best friend [Kelly Zajfen] came out with her kids and husband for a visit to try and help her get through this transition, but it's not as though she can stay forever."
