The San Francisco 49ers forced their first turnover of the 2026 NFL season in the second quarter of their Week 1 game against the Los Angeles Rams in Melbourne, Australia.
Cornerback Renardo Green, covering Rams reciever Puka Nacua, hauled in the interception at the 49ers' 13-yard line with 8:52 left in the second quarter. Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, from the 49ers' 35-yard line, tried to hit Nacua on a long pass, but Green intercepted it.

Defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa, who the 49ers acquired in an offseason trade with the Dallas Cowboys, could claim the ****** ist on this turnover after forcing Stafford to attempt the pass a bit earlier than he may have wanted.
That was Green's second career interception, as the third-year cornerback had just one other in his previous two seasons. Green, 25, was a second-round pick in 2024 out of Florida State.
