Before the start of the new 2. Bundesliga season, many experts had them down as one of the favorites for promotion. But Hannover 96 made a real mess of their first two matches. A 1-3 defeat to Cottbus was followed by a 0-1 loss to Wolfsburg.
According to 'Sky', Christian ******* z's position as head coach was apparently seriously under threat ahead of the DFB-Pokal. But judging by the match against fifth-tier side SV Hemelingen, things should calm down a little again.
Hannover are clearly playing their frustration out of their system. After just 20 minutes, the struggling second-division side were already 5-0 up.
A brace from Thordarson as well as goals from Hartel, Gindorf, and Pichler had the 96ers celebrating.
This result could give them some momentum for their upcoming 2. Bundesliga fixtures and help things go better in the league as well. By now, the Lower Saxony side are even leading 6-0.
