NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) -- Menchville High School in Newport News will not have a junior varsity football team for the 2026-27 school year.
Robert White, executive director of public information for Newport News Public Schools, told 10 On Your Side it was due to low student interest.
However, interested students, including ninth and 10th graders, will have the opportunity to play on the varsity football team.
