Mark your calendars: the Golden State Warriors' 2026-27 regular-season opener officially has a day, time and opponent. The Warriors will tip off the new campaign against the new-look Los Angeles Lakers in the post-LeBron James era on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. PT at Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles. The game will be televised on ESPN.
The Warriors will get their first look at the Doncic-headed Lakers without James. Doncic will lead the Lakers group alongside Austin Reaves and newly acquired big man Walker Kessler.
Golden State's season opener will technically come on the second day of the NBA season, with opening day set for Oct. 20. Opening day of the NBA season will feature three games, starting with the Boston Celtics at the Detroit Pistons, followed by LeBron James' Sixers against the defending champion New York Knicks, capped off by a Western Conference FInals rematch between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
The Warriors will then start their 26-27 campaign the next day on Friday against the Lakers.
The Warriors have won four of their last five opening-day games, including a win over the Denver Nuggets to start last season. Over their last 10 season-openers, the Warriors have posted a 6-4 record dating back to 2016.
