LEXINGTON – The stage is set for the finals of the marquee event in the 93rd News Journal Tennis Tournament.
Now it's just a matter of waiting. And it should be worth the wait.
Former Lexington High School teammates and current Ohio Athletic Conference college rivals Ethan Remy and Jake Chilcote emerged from Sunday's marathon slate of action to reach the finals of men's singles.
Originally set for Monday night at the high school courts, the **** le match has been postponed until Saturday, August 22, time TBA. Chilcote is having his wisdom teeth pulled Monday and Remy is flying back to New York, where he has been working this summer at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy.
Both of them played four matches, singles and doubles, on Sunday, so squeezing in the championship bout that night was not a realistic option.
