Plymouth Argyle have brought back central defender Alex Mitchell on a three-year-deal from Championship side Charlton Athletic for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old was a mainstay of the Argyle defence during his season-long loan in 2025-2026, making 40 League One appearances as they finished eighth, two points adrift of the play-offs.
He was also named Supporters' Player of the Season after shoring up a defence that conceded 88 goals in their relegation from the Championship the previous season.
Head coach Tom Cleverley told the club website: "I'm so happy we've got Mitch back with us. He was superb for us last season, and everyone knows what a huge presence he is, both in the defence, and off the field.
"You need characters like him in a group if you are to be successful. What is also so nice is his desire to return. He clearly enjoyed playing in green and white, and for him to want to come back is very pleasing to us."
