Switzerland's first men's World Cup quarter-final appearance in 72 years has prompted exceptional measures, with authorities extending bar opening times in Zurich, Basel and across the canton of Bern.
The match against defending champions Argentina in Kansas City kicks off at 3 am Swiss time (0100 GMT) on Sunday. Switzerland last reached the World Cup quarter-finals at their home tournament in 1954.
Restaurants and bars in the nightlife district of Chur will also be allowed to show the match indoors. Bars there normally have to close at 3 am. All other venues that usually close earlier can apply for a special permit.
In Locarno in the canton of Ticino, there are even plans for a public viewing in the middle of the night.
