Having been the subject of much speculation in recent months, Saïd El Mala now looks likely to remain at 1. FC Köln, as a move to England has failed to materialise so far.
Brighton & Hove Albion were linked with the winger earlier this summer, but cooled their interest after Köln made it clear they would not lower their €50 million asking price. Nevertheless, the Seagulls do not appear to have completely abandoned their pursuit of El Mala.
According to Sport Bild, Brighton head coach Fabian Hürzeler wants to make one “final attempt” to convince Saïd El Mala to join the Premier League club.
However, the report adds that the German coach is aware that a move to Brighton is unlikely for the 19-year-old.
With El Mala seemingly aiming for a move to one of the Premier League’s top clubs, the winger and his family have previously rejected interest from both Newcastle United and Brentford.
