At least that’s what’s contended in the indictment of former NBA players Malik Beasley and Ed Davis, a former Cavalier, according to The Athletic.
Through nine NBA seasons, Beasley, who last played for the Detroit Pistons, made approximately $60 million, but wrecked his finances due to significant gambling losses.
Those problems came home to roost when Davis, a friend and teammate while at the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2020-21 season, loaned Beasley money. They then collaborated to fix Beasley’s performance, according to the report.
The pair allegedly fixed Beasley’s performance four times beginning with a Jan. 26, 2024 game against the Cavaliers.
