Selena Gomez has filed to dismiss the fraud lawsuit against her.
Gomez's lawyer, Mathew S Rosengart, submitted a motion on Wednesday to dismiss the lawsuit brought by Wondermind investors earlier this month, according to court documents obtained by Us Weekly magazine.
The Only Murders in the Building star has denied allegations made by investors that she falsely represented the mental health startup's infrastructure, leadership and resources.
"Ms Gomez agreed to support her mother ,Mandy Teefey, who co-founded Wondermind," the filing read.
"Although she invested in and holds a minority stake in the Company, Ms Gomez never agreed to and did not manage the Company. Management was vested in Ms Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey, and Ms Pierson, who ran the Company as co-CEOs and board members. The Company, in turn, retained Ms Gomez as a consultant and conferred on her the ***** le of Chief Impact Officer."
Accusations that Gomez duped investors into putting $1.2 million (£890,000) into Wondermind were made in a lawsuit filed on 13 August, on behalf of a group of five investors who are seeking the return of the money they put into the skittled project.

On Wednesday, Aug. 26, Selena Gomez's lawyer filed a motion to dismiss claims of fraud by investors in the challenged company Wondermind
Earlier this month, investors alleged they were kept in the dark about the company's struggles
"Today's motion to dismiss demonstrates that plaintiffs never should have dragged Selena Gomez into this case as the claims against her are completely meritless if not frivolous," Gomez's litigator Mathew S. Rosengart tells PEOPLE in a statement
Selena Gomez is taking legal action after being accused of fraud by investors in the challenged company Wondermind.
Earlier this month, two companies — Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC — sued Gomez, 34, her mom Mandy Teefey, 50, and their former business partner Daniella Pierson, 31, claiming the trio "falsely represented" the startup's infrastructure, leadership and resources.

Only Murders In The Building and Waverly Place star Selena Gomez is sounding fairly ******* off this week, denouncing a recent fraud lawsuit launched against her mental health wellness brand Wondermind. Per People, the lawsuit was aimed at Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey, and former Wondermind co-CEO Daniella Pierson, claiming the trio "falsely represented" the company's "infrastructure, leadership, and resources" while soliciting more than a million dollars in investments—which is a fancy way to say that there have been a lot of allegations that, while the company sold itself as being able to capitalize on Gomez's massive celebrity and social media following (something that's made her cosmetics company Rare Beauty a reportedly billion-dollar business), in actuality, it was being run almost entirely by Teefey, with very little involvement from her famous daughter.
All of this was laid out in a fairly brutal September 2025 article in The Cut, which talked to several anonymous former Wondermind employees about the not-especially-pleasant-sounding experience of working for Teefey, who the article portrayed as unwell, disorganized, and generally not up to the strain of running a company alone. (Pierson, founder of The Newsette—and the subject of her own takedown article in Forbes last year—exited Wondermind a year after its 2021 founding, reportedly after conflict with Teefey.) The lawsuit says investors got seriously worried about getting their money back when Forbes ran a report back in May 2025 that the company had failed to pay its employees; Gomez reportedly stepped in to cover the debts.
(Meanwhile, if you're wondering what Wondermind—which bills itself as "The World's First Mental Fitness Ecosystem—actually does or makes, the answer is: Not very much, as far as we can tell. The site has run a blog, which has only intermittently been updated in recent years, and ran two short-lived podcasts in the past. But plans for snack offerings, a docuseries about Venus Williams, an app, and film projects have all failed to materialize. Many of the staffers quoted in The Cut article noted that Teefey—whose biggest professional success was pretty objectively the period where she served as Gomez's manager in the early years of her career, before being fired by her daughter in 2014—was good at suggesting projects, but not at actually bringing them to fruition.)
Gomez, like we said, sounds pretty angry to be getting her name and brand dragged through the mud with all this. Per People, her legal team put out a statement this weekend, stating that "The allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any way whatsoever in any purported 'fraud' or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally. We will vigorously defend these false allegations and indeed are filing a motion to dismiss the baseless claims against her." Teefey and Pierson, both named as co-defendants, haven't made public statements as of yet.

Selena Gomez is denying accusations that she defrauded investors in Wondermind, which she co-founded with her mother Mandy Teefey and their former business partner Daniella Pierson.
Earlier this week, investors filed a suit against the company and its founders, claiming they had invested nearly $1.2 million into Wondermind Global Inc. and were misled about the organization's infrastructure, leadership, and resources. Gomez, Teefey, and Pierson, along with Wondermind, are being sued over counts of alleged securities fraud, common law fraud, breach of contract, and more.

Selena Gomez's legal representation says a new lawsuit alleging the star defrauded investors in her mental health star-up Wondermind is "completely meritless, both factually and legally."
Lawyer Mathew S. Rosengart issued a statement to People on Saturday: "The allegations that Selena Gomez engaged in any way whatsoever in any purported 'fraud' or other wrongdoing are completely meritless, both factually and legally. We will vigorously defend these false allegations and indeed are filing a motion to dismiss the baseless claims against her."
In a lawsuit filed Thursday by two companies, Wondermind SRS 44 LLC and Bespoke Wondermind LLC, Gomez, her mother Mandy Teefey and Wondermind co-founder Daniella Pierson were accused of defrauding investors in the mental health startup, alleging the trio made false representations of the business to stakeholders, including a plan that Gomez would be "intimately involved" in the business's operations. The suit claims damages of around $1.2 million.
"Gomez purported to sign a contract obligating her to perform and then ignored it," the lawsuit read. "The partnerships did not exist. The initiatives never materialized. The app was never built. And for three years, while the Company quietly collapsed around them, not one of its founders, officers or directors said a word to the investors whose money was funding the collapse."
Gomez, Teefey and Pierson first launched Wondermind in 2021 as "a **** e to work it all out every day with candid conversations, physical tools, daily content, and a supportive community." In the lawsuit, investors claim that they did not learn about alleged management issues or struggles at the company – like employees not being paid on time – until The Cut reported on the startup's working conditions last year.

What's going on with Selena Gomez? Besides being a constant presence in Hulu's Only Murders in the Building, the actor-singer is being sued for fraud.
Several investors have filed a lawsuit against Gomez alleging fraud. The claim is that these investors believe they were misled about the success of her company, Wondermind, and about Gomez's actual involvement in it.
Gomez, who has been open about her own mental health journey, was listed as co-founder, chief impact officer, and head of marketing at Wondermind when it launched in 2021. The goal of the media platform was to give users "easy, doable ways to put your mental fitness first every day."
Gomez's mother, Mandy Teefey, is also being sued, as is Daniella Pierson, the co-CEO and former business partner. They are being sued for multiple claims, including securities fraud, common-law fraud, and breach of contract. Pierson is also accused of conversion and unjust enrichment, which are essentially the civil-law equivalents of plain old theft. The plaintiffs will need to prove each of these claims to recover their investments and obtain damages and legal fees.
Securities fraud and common-law fraud are similar claims alleging that the defendant lied to the plaintiff, causing the plaintiff to lose money. In this case, the investors will have to prove that they lost money after Gomez, Teefey, and Pierson intentionally misrepresented or omitted key information to obtain funding.

Kyle Newman of the Denver Post is reporting that the Colorado Rockies have recalled outfielder Zac Veen (No. 9 PuRP) and will designate for ***** ignment infielder Edouard Julien.
This comes on the heels of the news from yesterday that Connor Norby was recalled after Tyler Freeman went to the IL with lumbar pain.
Veen, who has won the Pacific Coast League's "Player of the Week" honors for two consecutive weeks has been on an absolute tear. The 2020 first-round draft pick is currently slashing .327/.402/.635 and leads the Pacific Coast League in both slugging percentage and OPS (1.037) in 100 games with just under 400 at-bats.
As for Julien, in January, the Rockies acquired him and pitcher Pierson Ohl from the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations. The Rockies hoped Julien could bring versatility and a lefty bat to their lineup. However, he has struggled during his time in Colorado.
Currently, he is slashing .208/.322/.292 (65 wRC+). There have also been questions about his fielding where he has -7 DRS at second base.
