As we prepare some crucial showdown games in Week 5, let's tie a bow on Week 4 in our latest Touchdown/Chunk Play/First Down/Behind the Chains retrospective:
Touchdown
PURE BULLDAWG: We turn south to Las Cruces, and one of the most impressive wins so far among the Class 6A ranks this season, that being Las Cruces High's 41-0 beatdown of Hobbs.
The offensive sluggishness that defined the early portion of the season seems to be a thousand miles in the rear-view mirror after Las Cruces rolled into Hobbs and put the hammer down on the Eagles.
The transition period for Las Cruces clearly is over, and you can now see the Bulldawgs have gained their bearings in real time.

Barcelona are preparing to reward Gerard Martin for his rapid rise under Hansi Flick, with the club planning improved financial terms and a longer contract for the versatile defender, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Martin's current Barcelona contract runs until 2028 and contains a €100 million release clause, but the club wants to revise that agreement after the 24-year-old became an increasingly trusted member of Flick's squad.
The move forms part of Barcelona's focus on securing the futures of their younger players following a busy transfer window.
On that note, Hamza Abdelkarim has already renewed his contract, but the club's work on retaining trusted talents is continuing.
Martin is already aware of Barça's intentions and the fact that the proposed changes would include a higher salary and an increased release clause, while Barcelona also want to extend the deal beyond its current 2028 expiry.

The U-20 team secured qualification for the 2nd round of the Copa do Brasil on Thursday afternoon (10) by defeating Cuiabá 4-3 in a penalty shootout in a single-leg match held at CT Rei Pelé! In regular time, the game ended 1-1, with a goal by Contreras!
Rodrigo Cézar, Diego Matos, Guilherme Cruz, and Pepê Fermino converted Santos' penalties, while goalkeeper João Pedro came up with a huge save!
Santos opened the scoring just 4 minutes in after a corner kick taken by Vinícius Fabri. Contreras' first header was saved by the goalkeeper, but he got on the rebound and headed it home to put his team in front.
Still in the first half, the Santos side had more chances to extend the lead, but failed to turn them into goals. In the second half, despite Santos still controlling the match, Cuiabá managed to equalize right at the end, taking the fight for qualification to penalties.
In the next round, Santos FC will face Palmeiras in October, with the date still to be confirmed.
