Elversberg coach Vincent Wagner was handed a one-game suspension after the German Football Federation (DFB) denied the club's appeal.
The DFB announced the decision in a statement on Monday evening and said that another appeal has already been filed against the ruling.
Wagner won't be allowed to be on the bench with his players in the Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich on Sunday and will have to watch it from the stands.
The coach was suspended after he received a red card during the 4-3 win against Borussia Mönchengladbach last Saturday for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The decision was controversial because Wagner did not attack referee Martin Petersen neither physically nor verbally.
