Florida State, despite forcing four turnovers on Monday night, was unable to pull off an upset vs. No. 19 SMU in a 27-24 loss.
It's the third straight year that FSU has lost its ACC opener. Mike Norvell is now 39-35 at FSU, with a 22-27 record in ACC play.
FSU was outgained 585-324, a large part of which was due to the Seminoles' inability to shut down the Mustangs' passing attack. Quarterback Kevin Jennings threw for 430 yards and two touchdowns, one of which was a 72-yarder.
