Dan Fountain remembers the official telling him about Rikhil Katpally.
"He's going to be a special player," Fountain remembers being told.
Katpally was still in middle school, playing modified soccer for Shaker, when Fountain, the school's varsity boys' soccer coach and Katpally's club coach with Saints FC, watched him play.
The referee wasn't talking about Katpally's speed or strength. He was talking about how he saw the game.
After the final whistle, the referee approached Fountain and pointed toward the young midfielder.
