Gold (GC=F) December futures opened at $4,436.40 per troy ounce on Thursday, September 3, 2026, up 0.5% compared to Wednesday's closing price. The price of gold moved higher this morning, trading at $4,470.70 as of 6:53 a.m. ET.
On Wednesday, President Trump said the U.S. carried out a "very heavy attack" against Iran but also stated that the attack wouldn't take "too long." Traders took that as a hopeful signal that this latest military reescalation in Iran will be short-lived.
While the hopeful sentiment has helped lift gold prices this morning, Brent crude is currently priced at over $97 a barrel, as both Iran and the U.S. continue to seek control over the Strait of Hormuz.
