Did singer Billie Eilish lose $800,000 in belongings after leaving her Tribeca penthouse unlocked for three days to prove that "Mamdani's New York" is safe? No, that's not true: The rumor originated from a known trollery network that adds satire labels to each of its pages. No credible media organizations reported anything remotely similar to the online speculation about a robbery of the singer's supposed Tribeca penthouse.
The claim appeared in a post (archived here and here) on X where it was published by 333too3 on Sept. 1, 2026. It read:
Please be true..... Pop superstar Billie Eilish has reportedly 'lost approximately $800,000 in jewelry, electronics, and also custom clothing' after a 'social experiment' in which she 'left her Tribeca penthouse doors unlocked for 72 hours to prove that New York City is safe under Mayor Mamdani's policies.' The experiment, which Eilish documented on social media with posts like 'trust is the ultimate security' and 'Mamdani's New York has no room for fear,' ended when she returned from a 'meditation retreat upstate' to find her home 'completely emptied, including the refrigerator and also the light fixtures.'
