WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue volleyball coach Dave Shondell was celebrated Tuesday night at Mackey Arena after the Boilermakers swept Texas A&M.
It was Shondell's 513th career victory at Purdue, surpassing Hall of Fame men's basketball coach Gene Keady's total of 512. Shondell's achievement was announced and promoted as a Purdue record for most head coaching victories.
While it is a Purdue record for a coach in one sport, according to Purdue record books, that career win total ranks second in Boilermaker history.

Ward "Piggy" Lambert is credited with 371 wins in 29 seasons as men's basketball coach (1917 and 1919-46) and 163 in 20 seasons (1917, 1919-35, 1945-46) as baseball coach, giving Lambert 534 career victories leading Purdue programs.
