Silicon Valley billionaire Douglas Leone challenged himself to the ultimate test of pain by purposely undergoing a root canal without Novocain.
The Sequoia Capital chairman, 69, opened up about the experience during an interview with podcaster David Senra over the weekend, where he went into detail about the difficult dental work.
Leone shared that he had to get the dental work done before heading to a meeting and ordered his dentist to skip the anesthetic.
"My whole life I wanted to see if I was a [expletive] or not," the exec said on Senra's Founders podcast. "In other words, I'm a fake [expletive] that has this envelope ****** ody could tell, or am I really a [expletive] on the inside?"
"Drill without any Novocain," Leone recalled telling the dentist, who said the venture capitalist was "out of [his] mind" for passing on the pain medication.
