NORMAN — Fifth-year guard B.J. Edwards is currently ineligible to play for the Oklahoma men's basketball team.
The Tennessee Court of Appeals issued an order on Aug. 26 staying the injunction granted to plaintiff athletes, including Edwards, pending appeal.
Edwards committed to the Sooners on Aug. 13 after he was granted eligibility through the Tennessee order that granted a slew of athletes temporary injunctive relief.
The SMU transfer started the Mustangs' first 28 games last season before missing the rest of the season due to injury. Edwards averaged 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.9 **** ists last season and was the only player nationally with three games of 20 points, five rebounds, five **** ists and five steals.
Edwards played three seasons with the Mustangs after spending his freshman year at Tennessee. A Knoxville native, he scored 2,240 total points at Knoxville Catholic High School.
