It turns out the Seattle Seahawks secondary is even more banged up than first realized.
After a weekend in which the team lost rookie safety Bud Clark to a broken ankle, it's also been revealed that another safety is currently out of commission, albeit on a shorter timeline. ESPN's Brady Henderson reported on Sunday night that Rodney Thomas II, brought in as a free agent signing from the Indianapolis Colts, recently underwent surgery for a fractured hand.
One note on the Seahawks' safety depth in light of Bud Clark going down tonight: I'm told Rodney Thomas II had surgery this past week to repair a fracture in his hand. That's why he's not playing tonight. Sounds like he has a chance to play next week.
"Yeah, he has a hand [injury], and we'll see if and when he's coming back on time," Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said after Sunday's loss to the Tennessee ******* ans.
Without Clark and Thomas, the Seahawks relied heavily on a three-safety rotation of A.J. Finley, D'Anthony Bell, and Maxen Hook to get through Week 2 of preseason.
