Although other clubs were also said to be interested in him, he opted for the future-oriented project and wants to help the capital club reconnect with past successes.
Ajax finished only fifth in the last Eredivisie season and even have to go through the third qualifying round for the Conference League.
For Brandt himself, however, the decision was apparently not nearly as surprising as it was for the rest of the football world. "For you, the surprise may have been greater than for me, but the last few days were exciting. I'm happy to be here now," said the 30-year-old.
Definitely the talks with Ajax sporting director Jordi Cruyff, the son of club legend Johan Cruyff.
