Gary Neville has backed Chelsea's decision to target experience this summer with moves for Danny Welbeck and Jordan Henderson.
Chelsea have made surprise approaches for the veteran pair in a bid to add experience to their group. Welbeck is due to undergo a medical ahead of signing a two-year deal, in a transfer that will be the first time Chelsea have paid a fee for a player aged over 26 since 2022.
The 35-year-old could be joined by Jordan Henderson, who has departed Brentford by mutual consent. Chelsea have earmarked the 36-year-old as a potential leader for their squad.
Neville believes Chelsea are making the right move by targeting good, senior professionals, after a difficult campaign last term.
"If you watched Chelsea for the last three, four or five years you'd say there's inexperience right throughout the football club," he said to Sky Sports.
