Victor Wembanyama is fresh off a phenomenal season where he led the San Antonio Spurs to the NBA Finals.
Although the San Antonio Spurs were no match for the New York Knicks during the 2026 NBA Finals, it showed a glimpse of what Victor Wembanyama is capable of if he stays healthy.
Next season, Wemby will enter Year 4 in the NBA. While fans expect great things from the reigning NBA DPOY, he gave Spurs fans a reason to celebrate after signing a five-year, $252 million max contract extension.
A five-year, $252 million max contract is no small deal, but one may wonder why Wembanyama settled for it rather than going for the $303 million supermax contract available on the table.
Well, the reason is simple: he wanted to leave some room in the cap for the Spurs to retain the supporting cast.
