Michigan basketball removed the interim tag from Mike Boynton Jr.'s ***** le and officially named him the head coach on Friday, July 10.
He will begin with a two-year contract, according to a release sent out by the program.
"Mike is a veteran ***** istant with strong head coaching experience and a clear understanding of the standard we expect at Michigan," athletic director Warde Manuel said in a statement. "Over the past two seasons, he has been an invaluable member of our staff, bringing stability, leadership and perspective during an important period of success.
"Our players and staff believe in his vision, are committed to his leadership and are excited for the opportunity to pursue great success together this season."
Boynton was named the interim just days after Dusty May abruptly left the program to take the job as head coach of the Dallas Mavericks and in the weeks since has spent his time re-recruiting the Michigan roster. To this point, 13 of the 14 scholarship players have reaffirmed their commitment to the Wolverines, with junior guard L.J. Cason as the final piece to make a decision.
